Coming Home

(Not knowing who else to call, Sophia had called Ken Carson. This led to a complete confession about her relationship with Dre, which she had previously avoided telling him about. He'd believed, up until that point, that Sophia and Dre were merely roomates.)
Sophia: Thank you for this. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to put you out.

Ken: You're not putting me out. Why were you so scared to tell me what's been going on with you? I thought we were friends.

Sophia: We are. But you were my boss and I took care of your kids. I didn't think you'd be very happy about someone like me caring for your boys. The only reason I told you now is because I don't have anywhere else to go and I thought, maybe, you liked me just enough that it didn't matter.

Ken: I'm sure your mom means well, but not everyone is going to judge you by who you date. I don't care. And the kind of person you are is the reason I trust you with my boys. Who you date in your free time doesn't even factor into our friendship.

Sophia: Thanks. And I promise, I won't stay long. I just need to get this job worked out and I'll find an apartment and--

Ken: It's okay. You're a friend, my friend.
(Daniel walks in)

Daniel: Hey Mr. Ken, I -- (notices Sophia) Oh, hi, who are you?

Ken: Daniel this is Sophia, Sophia meet Daniel.

Sophia: Hi Daniel. Are you Kevin's friend?

Ken: No, Kevin's gone. I took in Danny here after that.

Daniel: It's Daniel, not Dan, not Danny, Daniel.

Ken: Sorry Daniel.
Daniel: It's good to meet you Sophia. Dean, Tommy, and Patrick always talk about you.

Ken: She's going to be staying with us a little while.

Daniel: Cool.
(Daniel turns to walk out)

Ken: Everything will be okay. I'll bring you some blankets so you can get some sleep.

(Ken leaves with Daniel.)

(Sophia sits down and pulls out her camp scrap book.)
