Sophia’s Story

So now that you've seen how we got there, we find ourselves right back where we began or at least the day we started on, but much earlier.

Sophia had arranged to meet her brother at the park where she took Tommy to ride his big wheel. After Tommy's playtime she had to pick up Patrick from his half day of kindergarten and take them both to the 'Kelley Kids Kare' day care center. This wasn't the first half day visit to the Day Care. And though Sophia had mixed feelings about moving on from this job (since she loved the boys) that wasn't the weight on her mind right now.

Sophia wasn't thinking about the things she had to do later because all she could think about was the continuing stress caused by her relationship with Andrea. And she had finally confided in her brother about it.

Sophia: I don't know what to do Ellis. I love her, I'm just starting to feel suffocated. Maybe you were right, it was too soon. We shouldn't have moved in together. But it was so perfect in the beginning.

Ellis: It's always perfect in the beginning.

Sophia: But I had to choose Dre, Ellis. Because choosing Dre wasn't just about choosing Dre. It was about taking a stand with Mom.

Ellis: Does that mean you're stuck?

Sophia: Sometimes it feels that way. That sounds horrible, I mean I do love Dre. I just--

Ellis: You know what you need, time away from all of it.

Sophia: Leave Dre? That's your solution? Give up on us. I know the honeymoon period's over and--

Ellis: From what you've been telling me, this is bigger than the honeymoon period being over. I mean it's great you found Dre, but if you keep getting sucked into the black hole of this relationship, because you think it's all you got, it's never going to be right. So just put aside the 'we' thing with you and your girl, because you need 'me' time. Serious ME time.
