1.10: Confessions
(Later that day, at home, Mrs. Carr was helping Sophia get ready for her date that evening.)
Sophia: I don’t know, it’s not me. I feel like I did when my mom use to dress me up and force me out on dates with her friend’s ‘handsome son’. You know, the ‘marrying’ kind.
Mrs. Carr: Well I think you look nice, but I want you to be comfortable so lets try something else.
Sophia: I don’t think I can be comfortable I’m so nervous about tonight. I’ve never gone out on a… well a real date with a girl. Everything with Dre just sort of happened unplanned, we were hanging out and then we were together. The truth is I’ve never had a real date at all. I was never serious about the handful of guys I was sort of talked into going out with before. This is so… real. And real scary because of it.
Mrs. Carr: Well, now you get a chance to experience what you skipped.
Sophia: Yeah, I guess.
