1.17: Love’s Consequences
At the high school…
Benny: Hey Kim, I need to know what you think is best. A car or a limo prom night. I could rent a really nice car and give us some private time or we could contribute and go in on Harold and Kirk’s limo, at least they said I could.

Kim: What? You told them I was going with you?
Benny: Was I wrong? Because I just assumed.
Kim: Without discussing it with me?
Benny: Kim, you’re my girlfriend.
Kim: No I’m not. We’re just dating, so me being your prom date is a big assumption. Besides one knows that and I wasn’t exactly planning to come out with it at prom.
Benny: Kim, I’m just happy. I’m happy with us.
Kim: And now you want to make a big show of it, show off for your stupid friends.

Benny: No, I just figured we’re not seeing anyone else, so why not — unless you are seeing someone else’s, or worse, wishing you were seeing a certain someone else.
Kim: This is so not about Harold.
Benny: Then it’s about me. You’re ashamed to be seen with me.
Kim: I’m not, I’m just… just stupid okay. I’ve built up this prom in my mind and it hasn’t exactly worked out the way I planned. Forgive me for being an ass. We’re going, together. Lets just not make a big deal of it.
Benny: Okay. Can I get a kiss?
Kim: Benny, we’re in school.
Benny: A hug then.
(Kim reluctantly hugs him before they depart to class)
