1.17: Love’s Consequences

Mrs. Carr: I want you to know that feeling, really know it. You are so maternal. You really deserve to have a child to love, a child that’s yours from the beginning, not this secondary relationship you have with my kids.
Sophia: Are you crazy? I was there the day these two were born. I got to welcome the beginning of their life with you and you’ve allowed me to be in there lives almost every day since. What’s more real than that?
Mrs. Carr: I don’t know. Are we crazy thinking this can actually work out somewhere down the line?
Sophia: No, because it’s already working. We just have to get everyone else to see that. I love you in a way I’ve never loved anyone.
Mrs. Carr: I love you too.

Mrs. Carr: You better go, I don’t want to make myself out to be a liar.
Sophia: A liar?
Mrs. Carr: Well I said we weren’t lovers and we can’t be, not until this divorce is final. My relationship with my husband started off wrong. I want to do this relationship right.
Sophia: Okay, I can respect that. We have forever so there’s no rush. See you tomorrow.
Mrs. Carr: Tomorrow.
(Sophia reluctantly leaves.)
