1.18: The Beginning of Summer
(Reluctantly, Kim went to talk to Benny)
Kim: Happy Birthday
Benny: Thanks
Kim: I miss you.
Benny: Do you, or do you just miss walking all over me?
Kim: Benny it was never like that.
Benny: Yes it was. You thought I was so in love with you that you could do anything and I’d just let it happen.
Kim: No I didn’t.
Benny: You did. I was just your entertainment until you could get Harold back.
Kim: What do I need to do to convince that isn’t true!
Benny: Nothing, you’ve already proven time and time again, it is true.
Kim: I love you. Ben. That’s right everyone, I love him and I need to say out loud even though he broke up with me prom night. All because I was too stupid to tell people I was seeing him. And now I don’t know why, because he’s the most amazing guy I’ve ever been with and he’s loved me unconditionally even though I didn’t deserve his attention. I deserve to lose him, but I wanted everyone to know how I felt before I let him walk away from me.
Ben: Kim, I–You– this isn’t a joke.
Kim: I wouldn’t joke about this.
(And then, amid cheers and whoops from their friends, she kissed him.)
