1.11: Valentines
(Ben found what he half expected to find in the hallway, Kim kissing Harold.)
Benny: Kim?
(The kiss quickly ended. The truth was, Kim hadn’t planned on kissing him, it just happened.)
Harold: Sorry man, the mind is strong, but the flesh, it’s weak.
(Harold headed back to the gym and Ben suddenly felt real stupid for beliving this could be the beginning of something different.)
Benny: Is he the only reason you came with me? You wanted another shot at him.
Kim: No, I wanted to go with a friend. And we’re just friends Ben.
Benny: This was suppose to be the beginning of it being something else. do you know how long I wanted this, how long I wanted you?
Kim: And you knew I didn’t return your feelings.
Benny: And why is that? Harold treats you like crap. First he dated you and one of your best friends at the same time, not to mention a bunch of other girls. Then he claimed to be committed to you, but everyone knew he was still sleeping around. Then he dumped you when he thought something better came along. I would never do these things to you. Why do you want a guy that treats you like shit?
Kim: I don’t know, okay. Why does anyone want anyone?
Benny: I want you because I love you, I love you. It’s that simple. I would do anything for you, anything. But I can’t feel this humiliated ever again, so no more pity dates. I won’t ask anymore.
(But Kim was blown away by his admission of love. He just loved her, it was that simple. It was something Harold would never ever say.)
Kim: Ben, I–
Benny: Don’t, okay. You don’t love me and I can’t make you love me. I accept that.
(Kim runs up to Benny and pulled him close for a kiss.)
Kim: That wasn’t pity, okay.
Benny: That was for real.
Kim: Yeah, what do you say we get out of here? Get some dinner or something.
Benny: It’s cool with me.
