1.12: Emotional Rollercoaster
Act I
Spring was creeping on the horizon at Kelley Avenue and since the weather warmed, Mrs. Carr decided to have a cookout for Deven and Ian’s 15th birthday (on March 10th). So many Kelley Avenue residence came to enjoy the first cookout of the spring.
At the cookout, Francisco decided it was finally time to open up his friend about the Sophia situation as he didn’t feel he could hold it inside anymore and if he could trust anyone, he could trust his friend.

Sharice: You’re serious?
Francisco: Keep your voice down. This isn’t exactly public knowledge.
Sharice: Sorry, but it’s just shocking. Your mom is in love with a woman, a younger woman.
Francisco: Yeah.
Sharice: And you’re not weird about it?
Francisco: No, Sophia’s great. The best thing that ever happened to my mom.
Sharice: Does anyone else know?
Francisco: Not really. I think dad suspected something before he bolted again. Amazing, he didn’t even last a week after Valentines.
Sharice: He came home for the most romantic holiday of the year, give him points for that.

Francisco: We don’t need him for a romantic holiday. We just need him and he’s not there for us.
Sharice: Have you thought about how the rest of your siblings will feel about this?
Francisco: Yes, and they all love Sophia. It tottally won’t be a big deal to the little ones. Shanice might be upset if mom and dad divorce, but she’s grown, she can move out. Deven and Ian like Sophia fine, they’ll be okay with it I’m sure. I mean it might be weird at first to see them around each other, knowing they’re more than friends, but no major problems. The only problem is Erika. She’s fine with Sophia and mom being friends, finally, but I don’t know what she’ll do if it becomes more than that.
Sharice: But you’re pushing this anyway?
Francisco: Sophia’s the type of person that would be willing to work with her through all that. She’d never do anything to screw-up the family, she loves mom and all her kids.
Sharice: Including you.
Francisco: I’m not much of a kid anymore. But I don’t know, I guess she’s fond of me. At least as fond as I am of her.
Sharice: You like, adore this Sophia lady, don’t you?
Francisco: I maybe had a little crush on her for a minute, but that’s tottally gone. She just makes things at home feel complete, I can’t explain it.
Sharice: What if your private investigator doesn’t find out anything?
Francisco: Then maybe I can have faith in my father again. But I don’t think that’s going to be the case.
