1.12: Emotional Rollercoaster

Mrs. Carr: “Daddy”.

Sophia: Huh?

Mrs. Carr: I love hearing the kids say it. I never had that, a daddy. And when he does come home, out of obligation or whatever it is, I get to hear my kids exclaim “daddy”. I don’t want to take it away from them. King and Me’chelle haven’t even gotten a chance to have daddy and they should have that chance.

Sophia: You don’t have to stay with Francisco to give them that.

Mrs. Carr: What if I do? What if obligation is the only thing that makes him turn up at my door at all?

Sophia: If that’s the case, you shouldn’t want him. I know if the situation was reversed and your job took you away from home a lot, no one would ever have to question the fact that every moment you could, you’d come home to be with your kids. If that’s not the case for him, is the word daddy so important that you have to hold on to him?

Mrs. Carr: Yeah, it is. I’m sorry.
