1.12: Emotional Rollercoaster
(Meanwhile, at the high school Karen strolled into the girls bathroom and found her sister there.)

Karen: Kim, there you are. I’ve been trying to find you to talk to you.
Kim: About?
Karen: Benny, he seems really desperate to talk to you and you’ve been avoiding him and it’s weird.
Kim: What do you mean, it’s weird?
Karen: I mean you and Benny usually get along okay, despite his crush. Now it’s like your running from him. What’s going on?
Kim: Nothing, at least nothing that’s any of your bussiness.
Karen: Did he make a move on you that you didn’t like or something?
Kim: Karen, you know Ben’s a sweetheart. He’d never do anything like that.

Karen: Sweetheart? That’s new.
Kim: I’m just saying, you know him. He’s too nice to do anything like that. He loves me.
Karen: Oh my god, you’re starting to have feelings for him.
Kim: I am not.
Karen: Kim, I can see it.
Kim: Okay, maybe you’re right. But it’s complicated.
Karen: Why?
Kim: (low voice) We slept together.
Karen: What? You and Benny? Seriously? I hope you protected yourself.
Kim: I always do.
Karen: When was this?
Kim: It happened after the dance. I must have lost my mind.

Karen: Or you finally found it, not that’s I’m a fan of casual sex.
Kim: I know, you’re the ‘pure one’. The point is, I don’t know what to say to him. I mean, it’s hard being someone’s fantasy. I’m not trying to be arrogant about this or anything, but he told me that I was everything he ever wanted, that I was perfect. And for a moment that felt great, but what happens when reality hits and he finds out I’m anything but perfect.
Karen: Well that’s going to be the true test of his feelings for you, but Kim, if you don’t even try, are you being fair to yourself?
Kim: I guess not.
