1.13: The Marshalls
(The next day at school…)
Harold: Hey Sharice. Can we talk.
Reese: Why bother, I’ll just get more of your pity.
Harold: It’s not pity, I care about you. I’m trying to do the right thing.
Reese: You know I have one Francisco, I don’t need two well intentioned guys getting on my nerves.
Harold: But you have respect for him. So if I’m reminding you of Francisco right now I assume I’m finally doing the right thing.
Reese: No you’re not. If I wanted Francisco, I’d be with him. I’m not. I’m with you because you don’t do what everyone else does. And you know what, I’m the same person I was before my dad got arrested. The problems were always there.
Harold: Except I didn’t know about them, so I didn’t understand why you didn’t care what I did. Why it didn’t matter to you about other girls, it’s because I don’t matter to you. I’m just an object, just the way Jared treated you.
Reese: You don’t know what you’re talking about.
Harold: I don’t want to be the guy that uses you anymore than I want to be the guy that you use, because you were used.
(Kim saw Harold and Sharice talking in the hall and paused to listen)
Reese: I like you, I just want to have fun. You don’t need to up your player game for me.
Harold: I’m not playing, I don’t want to play with you. I love you.
Reese: You what?
Harold: I love you.
Reese: You really mean that?
Harold: Believe me, I don’t say those words unless I mean them. Ask any of the chicken heads I’ve ever dated.
(Sharice giggles)
Reese: Prove you love me. Get me out of the rest of today?
Harold: Ditch? Sure, lets go.
(Karen joined Kim just after Harold passed her)
Kim: I can’t believe it. He said it to her.
Karen: What are you talking about?
Kim: He told Sharice he loves her.
Karen: He who?
Kim: Harold.
Karen: Harold said ‘I love you’. Damn, this must be serious. And what do you care? Aren’t you into Benny now?
Kim: That’s not the point.
Karen: It is for me. Listen, you may be dating in secret, but you’re still dating and that means a lot to Ben. Don’t break his heart by mooning over Harold again. Harold’s moved on and you need to also.
