Act I
After dinner, one Friday at the Fletcher house. Lina dedcided to remind her mother about something she’d obviously forgotten.
Lina: Ma, what are we going to do about Rocky’s birthday?
Dr. Fletcher: Rocky’s what?
Lina: God, you’re suppose to be his mother and you can’t even remember his birthday.
Dr. Fletcher: Don’t talk to me like that. You know every time I look at him I see Edward and think about…
Lina: Are you ever going to forgive Eddie? He didn’t make the mistake alone you know? He was only half responsible for bringing Rocky into this world.
Dr. Fletcher: I know who’s responsible for what, okay? And I also know Rocky’s a happy little boy and has been since he was born.
Lina: Because of me!
Dr. Fletcher: Who pays the bills around here?
Lina: You
Dr. Fletcher: He’s fed and clothed because of me. And…
Dr. Fletcher: I love him.
Lina: I can’t tell.
