(The kids were about to make a rush for Ellis when Mrs. Carr spoke up.)

Mrs. Carr: Kids, Ellis is not here to see you, he’s here to see his sister, so return to to your seats for cake and Ice Cream.

(With much Grumbling they did as they were told)

(Ellis and Sophia left the kids to eat there cake and ice cream and went downstairs.)

Ellis: You know, it’s kind of cool to get the superstar treatment, but kind of annoying too.

Sophia: You know you love it. Anyway, why’d you come by here?

Ellis: Just came by to see if you’re coming to mom and dad’s anniversary dinner.

Sophia: You know she doesn’t want me there.

Ellis: Yes she does and I figure if we avoid all conversations about certain… things… mom will be completely cool with the situation.

Sophia: It’ll be uncomfortable for all of us to have that elephant in the room. So it’s better if I’m not there.

Ellis: It’s always there anyway, just below the surface. Mom and Dad try to ignore it to keep the peace, but it never goes away. (sighs) Anyway, how’s your love life.

Sophia: Ellis, not the time or place for this conversation.

Ellis: Well sis, I can’t help it. The lady seems nice enough but she looks like someone’s mother.

Sophia: Um, she is someone’s mother.

Ellis: How many kids does she have again?

Sophia: Nine, well actually 10 if you include her step-daughter, 13 at the moment because she’s taken in Trax’s kids.

Ellis: 13? You’re nuts.
