1.15: Lina’s Secret

Eddie: So that’s how you took care of it. He thinks your mom is his mom.

Lina: Yeah, because legally she is. She adopted him the day he was born.

Eddie: But he’s our child, not hers.

Lina: That didn’t matter to you when I was alone and pregnant.

Eddie: Well I’m a few years older now, I know better.

Lina: Rocky won’t understand, I’ve always been his sister and mom has always been his mom. That’s what he knows.

Eddie: One day he’s going to find out his mother is his Grandmother, better he find it out sooner than later.

Lina: I’m not going to upset his happy life for someone who hasn’t been around.

Eddie: At least I don’t want to lie to him.

Lina: Don’t do that okay. I am in Rocky’s life, everyday. I’ve changed diapers, I’ve had sleepless nights, I’ve potty trained, I’ve nursed his wounds, I’m here for the day to day, even if he does think I’m his sister. I can’t even say you’ll be here to tomorrow or the day after or a week from then.

Eddie: Why can’t you just trust that I’m serious about this?

Lina: The last time you asked me to trust you, I ended up pregnant and alone.

Eddie: I could fight for visitation in court.

Lina: Do you really want to put Rocky through a court battle?

Eddie: I just want to see him.

Lina: So see him, prove that’s really what you want, a relationship with your son. Come by one weekend and take him to the park. Come by another day and take him to the movies or just play with him here for a little while. Prove that you want a relationship with him. But don’t expect me to upset his life because you gave him one day of yours.

Eddie: Fair enough. Should I go?

Lina: No, not yet, maybe mom will let you stick around and play with Rocky a little while.
