1.15: Lina’s Secret

Mrs. Carr: Sharice you’re in high school. How are you going to find enough time to work and take care of two toddlers?
Sharice: I don’t know, but I’ll do it.
Mrs. Carr: You’re not being realistic. And you don’t have to be on your own, there’s no reason you can’t get a job and help out with the bills of this household, if it bothers you that much.
Sharice: It’s more than that. I adore being around Francisco, but hiding in this house still feels to close to bad memories. I need space, I need to breath.
Mrs. Carr: Well, I don’t know what to tell you except I don’t think you’re ready to be on your own.
Sharice: Well, I’m looking into being an emancipated minor, one way or another.

Mrs. Carr: What is she thinking?
Sophia: She just told you, she needs space to feel normal again. And she can’t find that here. And besides, she feels like a burden on your family and she loves you guys, so she hates feeling that way.
Mrs. Carr: Well I don’t think a 16 year old should be out there all alone when she doesn’t have to be.
Sophia: Maybe there’s a way to sort of give her what she wants.
Mrs. Carr: I’m listening.
(So Sophia shared her idea. And if Sharice agreed to it, it wasn’t a bad idea.)
