1.16: Betrayed
Against her own better judgement, Mrs. Carr had started out the next morning determined to confront her husband at his second address. It was a long trip. When she started she had been upset and while she drove she had gotten angry. But when she got there, something different happened. She remembered once again that she had once been the other woman and she half wondered if she deserved this. When she got there, the landlord, a woman, had let her in when she explained why she was there. As soon as she looked at the apartment, she realized this woman was not only living better than she had lived as his mistress, but far better than she was now living as his wife.

(And while she was standing there, Mr. Carr came home.)

Mr. Carr: Dawn, how’d you get in?
Mrs. Carr: The landlord thought you’re wife might be interested in the accommodations you set up for your mistress.
Mr. Carr: Okay, so you know my secret. But it’s not like you’ve been being loyal. Last time I was home, you barely let me touch you. I felt like an unwelcome guest in my own home. Do you blame me for seeking the comfort of someone who actually wants me?
Mrs. Carr: Are you talking about your Valentines visit?!! That’s one time in our whole marriage that I wasn’t in the mood and couldn’t pretend I was!!! And that doesn’t excuse this! This little set up of yours, is older than Valentines day!!!
Mr. Carr: It’s not like I love her.
Mrs. Carr: Is that what you said to Shanice’s mother when you were married to her and I turned up pregnant?
Mr. Carr: No, of course not.
