1.16: Betrayed
(A short time after Mrs. Carr left, Sophia went to meet the person she had been talking to on the phone. Namely, the P.I. she and Francisco had hired a few months back.)

P.I.: As your friend suspected, his father isn’t being good and loyal to his mom.
Sophia: What did you find out?
P.I.: He’s living a double life.
Sophia: He has another wife?
P.I.: He has another home and a live in girlfriend, I believe that she believes they’re getting married. Pictures are in here.

Sophia: Now what am I going to do?
P.I.: I suggest sharing this information with your friend and his mother.
Sophia: But, it’s going to tear her up to see this. I don’t want to be the one to tell her.
P.I.: Then let the boy do it.

Sophia: He’s her son, I can’t do that. I so wanted to believe he was wrong. I mean, I wanted, well I wanted her but–
P.I.: Excuse me?
Sophia: I’m afraid I have horrible motives for agreeing with Francisco’s idea to hire you. I’m in love with his mother, he knows.
P.I.: This should be good news then. I mean, if she’s interested and this marriage to this jerk was the only thing holding her back.
Sophia: It is and it isn’t. It’s a lot of things, I mean I could tell the marriage was dying, but I didn’t want to be the one to kill it.

P.I.: I wish I could help you, but I can’t. You paid me to do something, I did it. Now you just have to decide how to deliver the bad news, if you deliver it at all.
Sophia: Thank you, good-bye.
(And the two of them parted ways.)
