1.2: Back to School

Mrs. River: Mie, why are you sitting with those upperclassman?
Mie: I’m sitting with Stephany.
Mrs. River: Harold was the one I saw with his arm around you.
Mie: He was just talking to me.
Mrs. River: I don’t want you in Harold’s gang, I don’t think it’s the best circle of friends.

Mie: Harold’s gang? (laughs) Mom, there’s a lot of people over there, four are my classmates, we went to middle school together. Listen, I only came to this school because Stephany was going to be here and I wanted to go to high school with my best friend. And you promised that I could without you pressuring me, otherwise I would have gone to that private school dad was looking into.
Mrs. River: Mie, I’m just saying–
(Suddenly Harold came over.)

Harold: Mrs. River.
Mrs. River: Hello Harold.
Harold: My friends and I were wondering if everything’s cool with Mie.
Mrs. River: I was just wondering why my daughter decided to sit with so many upperclassman.
Harold: Well, as you know, it’s my brother’s first year too. So, I was just helping some of his friends ease into the High School environment. Would you rather I shun them for being freshman?
Mrs. River: No, but–.
