1.2: Back to School

Mick: Favorite color.
Mie: Purple, I guess. You.
Mick: Blue, I like blue.
Mie: Hobbies. Let me guess, chasing girls like big brother.
Mick: I’m not Harold, okay. I love my big brother, but I’m not him.
Mie: I’m sorry, I was just kidding.

Mick: It’s okay. It’s not like you’re the first. Everyone thinks I’m just another him, but I just want to be me.

Mie: I know what’s that’s like. I mean, having someone already here, how that comes with expectations. My mom teaches here, everyone expects me to be a goody-goody because of it. And my brother, well I know my parents are going to give him a complex, they’re always wanting him to live up to what my big brother was and that’s not fair, cause he dead. And Michael II will never be Michael I. It’s so twisted they named him after my dead brother.
Mick: Yeah, that’s a bit weird. I thought you Rivers were like super normal.
Mie: Well, I guess we shouldn’t rely solely on first impressions. Especially those made by other family members.

Mick: Okay, I guess we better get back to the questions. My hobby, basketball. I love it.
Mie: I don’t know the game that well.
Mick: I could teach you, it’s pretty simple. Anyway, your hobby.
Mie: Don’t laugh, it’s insects. I find them so interesting. I want to be an entomologist, but Stephany thinks that’s so geeky.
Mick: I think it’s cool, most girls are so squeamish about bugs and stuff. Plus, sometimes, geeky girls are hot.
Mie: *blushing* Mick!
Mick: I’m just kidding around.
Mie: We should probably exchange numbers right, since we’re going to be partnered all year.
Mick: Yeah, we should.
(By the end of class that day, Mie thought Mick was pretty cool. Charming in his own way, nothing like Harold. There was something really sweet and nice about him. It was something she never would have imagined considering the impression her mother gave her of Tompson boys. Stephany would be lucky to have Mick. If he was intrested, that is.)
