1.2: Back to School

(After school, Nelson Kirk and Mick went to the basketball court for a game. Everything he knew about basketball, he knew from Kirk. His brother could ball, but he was too big a show off to concentrate on actually teaching anyone anything. And he wasn’t serious about it. He didn’t feel it the way Kirk did. And that’s how Mick felt it, so when it came to b-ball, he was far more comfortable with Kirk. Who promised to help him make the JV team.)

(Neither one of them had really noticed Coach Smith had walked onto the court to watch them.)

Kirk: Mick here is going out for the team. He’s one of the school’s new freshman.

Coach Smith: Well, I don’t see any reason you won’t make it. You’re pretty good. Harold’s brother, right?

Mick: Yeah.

Coach Smith: He had some talent too, but I’m afraid he waste it. Good to see that isn’t a Tompson tradition.
