1.7: The Lost Son

Mr. Stevens: Are you sure?

Kira: Of course I am.

Mr. Steven: You’re not trying to break up my family, are you?

Kira: No, of course not. I know you love your little girl, I don’t want her to lose a daddy. I just wanted you to know there’s another little baby that belongs to you.

Mr. Stevens: I want proof.

Kira: This is your baby.

Mr. Stevens: We’ll see if it is.

Mr. Stevens: I nearly lost your mother when I told her about it. After awhile, we made the decision to stay together. We decided even if the baby was mine, you could never know. It would ruin the family. So my son was my burden and mine alone. And the second I saw him, I knew he was mine. I didn’t need a test, but I got the blood test to confirm it anyway. It didn’t matter, I loved him the second I held him. He was my boy. But it was already to late to arrange incorporating him into our family in any way, so I let things be. He knew who I was, because I saw him as much as I could. Which wasn’t often, because he was a secret.

Mr. Stevens: Then Kira fell in love with a man named Zack and so did my son. He didn’t have a part time dad anymore, he had a full time dad. So at seven I stopped seeing him, Kira claimed he was happier that way, happier with Zack, happier with someone who could give him his whole heart, happier with someone who could be the daddy to him that I was to you.
