1.7: The Lost Son
(For Sophia, the drive seem to be taking forever and the closer they got to her house, the more sure she was that she wanted to turn back.)
Sophia: Why are we doing this?
Mrs. Carr: Because you need your mother.

Sophia: She chose not to accept me.
Mrs. Carr: Well this attempt at re-conciliation is my choice, not yours, not hers, mine.
Sophia: Why do you care?
Mrs. Carr: Isn’t that obvious? I care because I care about you. And I can see it in your eyes when you talk about her, you want your mother in your life. And I’m a mother and I just can’t believe she wants this kind of distance between you two over something so… unimportant.
(She wished her mother felt that it was unimportant, that it just didn’t matter. But she knew that wasn’t the case.)
