(And then she kissed her and it wasn’t a kiss that could be excused as innocent.

It began as a cautious and gentle kiss, but there was nothing innocent about it.

The kiss said more than freindship.)





(Perhaps it would have been easier on both of them if this time Mrs. Carr hadn’t kissed her back. If she’d pushed her away, hadn’t responded, or simply registered no feeling at all, it would have been easy to walk away, to end it, to follow Ellis’ advice. But that’s not what happened. The kiss was met willingly and passionatly.)



(But finally, Mrs. Carr, with her heart beating faster than it had in a long time, did push her away. It took her a few moments to actually speak.)
