1.8: The New Year
(Mrs. Stevens came home to find her husband packing up to leave and he barely paused to tell her where he was going. She tried to convince him it wasn’t neccessary.)
Mr. Stevens: I have to go see him.
Mrs. Stevens: Shawn is your son. You brought him home, you need to take care of him!
Mr. Stevens: I am, by seeing Zack. Zack knows him. He’s been his father for awhile now, Shawn trust him in a way he doesn’t trust me.
Mrs. Stevens: This is exactly why I didn’t want him in my life. Why couldn’t you just let Zack adopt…
Mr. Stevens: Because he’s my son, mine.
Mrs. Stevens: Well I’m sorry I didn’t give you a son.
Mr. Stevens: This isn’t about you and our family. But Shawn’s mother is gone and that means, as his father, I should step up. So I have. I’m not going to give him to another person, but I know he has a special connection with Zack and maybe I took it away too fast. But he’s my son and he always be my son and he will continue to live here.
Mrs. Stevens: What are we going to do with Zack once he’s here?
Mr. Stevens: I’m taking this step-by-step Tiff, I’m not planning ahead.
(Mr. Stevens rushed out the house after that.)
