1.8: The New Year

Act II

(That evening, Allison River was preparing lunch for her son when she heard the doorbell ring.)

(Mrs. River went to the door and let Dawn Carr in.)

Mrs. Carr: Allison, I came to see you and your husband about…

Mrs. River: Michael?

Mrs. Carr: No, the kids… well my oldest son and his friends that is, came to my house after their movie and told me you weren’t too pleased with the idea of a combo party for Mie and Francisco on New Years Eve.

Mrs. River: Well, your son is turning 17, he’s almost a man. My daughter only turning 15, she’s barely a teenager. She just started high school.

Mrs. Carr: It’s a two year difference Allison and now that they all basically travel in the same circle of friends, I figure why split the event? When Harold, Nelson Kirk, and the Wilson Twins parents found out they all shared the same birthday it was easier to throw one party and invite all the kids friends to one place. At my house, Francisco and Mie would have a lovely, well chaperoned, party for the teenage crowd. I even invite you and your husband to chaperone it yourselves.

Mrs. River: To be honest, I never thought it sounded like a bad idea. Maybe I can talk my husband into it. I’ll call you.

Mrs. Carr: Thank you

(Mrs. Carr got up to go back home and Michael turned to his mother.)
