1.9: Together Again

Sophia: Francisco, she’s not a little girl anymore. She survived half her life without you. You’re trying to pick things up like nothing has changed, but everything has changed… everything.

Francisco: You don’t understand the type of friendship we have. I mean, we’re connected in a way nothing can break, not even time. Once we saw each other, we were together again and that was all that mattered.

Sophia: I have felt that way Francisco, it was called falling in love.

Francisco: I’m not in love with her like that, but I do love her.

Sophia: Whatever you want to call it, it’s a love too intense for Karen to deal with.

Francisco: Can’t I keep Sharice in my life without losing Karen?

Sophia: Yes, you can. By accepting that Sharice is just your friend and treating Karen like your first priority.

Francisco: Well what about you and my mother?

Sophia: What do you mean?

Francisco: I’m not stupid. There’s something intense between you two. You love her, whatever kind of love you want to call it, you love her.

Sophia: You’re right, I do love your mother. But it’s not like … listen, I’m not the issue here, you and Sharice and Karen are. I’m not saying you have to give her up completly. I’m just saying you accept that the situations different, that things have changed. You can’t be the same way you were as kids. It’s not just you and Sharice in your own little play world.

Francisco: I guess you’re right. Thanks Sophia.
