1.9: Together Again
(Francisco’s day only seem to get worse, Sharice had walked all the way to school avoiding him and continued to do so all day. When he walked up on Karen in the hall, he could tell she was still upset with him too.)
Karen: Francisco, you didn’t call last night.
Francisco: I was distracted… and I thought maybe you didn’t want me to call.
Karen: Or maybe you don’t want me to want you to call, because I’m not Sharice.
Francisco: Karen!
Karen: Francisco, you’re obsessed with her. I don’t feel like your girlfriend anymore.
Francisco: I don’t want us to break up.
Karen: Why should I believe that?
Francisco: Cause you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. But just the way you look out for Kim, that’s the way I feel about Sharice. If your sister needed you more than I did, for anything, I’d let you take care of it.
Karen: I don’t believe it’s the same. I think it’s more than concern for a friend. And I can’t put that feeling aside. I’m sorry.
(And then she walked away from him, leaving Francisco wondering if his world would ever be normal again.)
