“I can’t believe you lead us on another dead end chase,” Scully said placing her bags on the bed.
“How was I suppose to know they were actually weather Balloons?”
“Mulder, your source was a woman who planned afternoon tea with President Lincoln.”
“How do you know she wasn’t telling the truth?”
She turned and looked at him like ‘Are you joking.’ He half smiled an ‘of course I am’. She returned the smile.
“Good-night Mulder,” Scully said setting her bags on the floor. “I can’t believe they only had one room.”
“We’ll manage, we can have a slumber party.”
“Slumber party?”
“Yeah, and watch a few videos.”
“Videos? What kind of videos Mulder?” Scully said raising an eyebrow.
“You know, just videos,” Mulder said with a teasing smile. He picked up the TV guide.
“Listen Mulder, I’m not interested in–”
“Planet of the Apes,” Mulder interrupted.
“What?”
“Unless you’d prefer watching Secrets of the Lost Pyramids.”
“I’d prefer to be home watching my own TV,” Scully replied.
Thunder clasped outside, heavy rains begin to pour. Scully rolled her eyes.
“This is just great, this is great Mulder. Along with everything else, a thunderstorm.”
“Let’s just go to sleep Scully,” Mulder said yawning and stretching across the queen sized bed.
“I swear Mulder, the next time you take me on some–”
She turned and stopped mid sentence. He was already sleeping. She understood, it had been a long day. Despite the fact it had been dead end, any journey with him was interesting.
She laid across the bed beside Mulder, dead tired herself. Even the sleeping handsome man on the bed beside her couldn’t make her stop yawning. She turned on the TV, but her eyes fell on Mulder. He was so cute and hardheaded as a little boy was sometimes. She couldn’t pin point when he had become cute, she’d just looked at him one day and thought cute and the thought had stuck. Maybe it even dated back to that first assignment. Mulder had run into the rain like a psycho yelling, “We lost nine minutes.” She thought he was crazy (she still had yet to find proof he wasn’t). In the back of her mind though, watching this grown man as excited as a little kid jumping in the rain was adorable. Scully yawned herself, she really was tired. She tried to focus on the TV show, but before she knew it she was off to dreamland.
Mulder awoke with Scully curled up beside him. In their sleep they must have rolled toward each other. Sleepily, Scully snuggled close to him. He looked over at her and smiled. She was like an angel when she slept. And here she was, sleeping, unaware she was cuddling him. He was afraid to move, but also afraid not to. He could feel his desire building with this woman so close. He had to give her a chance to move. A gentle touch to her face made her eyes blink half awake. She smiled at him and drifted back off. A kiss to her temple made her eyes flutter open again.
“Mulder? What are you doing?” Scully asked sleepily.
“Scully” Mulder whispered.
“Mulder? Are you asleep?”
“Scully,” Mulder repeated as he leaned down toward her.
“Mul–”
Scully’s words were cut off by his lips. The gentle touch of his lips erased her thoughts. As a shockwave of warmth ran through her body, as if his kiss intensified the warmth that their bodies had been sharing. A wave of passion ran through her body and all she could do was hold on. She pulled her partner closer. His lips left hers and traced a soft pattern down her neck stopping at the neckline of her shirt, which nearly touched her breast.
“Mulder,” she said in almost a whisper.
“Yes,” Mulder said looking her in the eyes, those gorgeous eyes that challenged him on a daily basis.
“What are you doing?”
“Exploring new territories,” Mulder said kissing her lips again.
She felt her body suddenly shiver with pleasure and fear. Fear an emotion she had little use for in her line of work. But she just couldn’t stop shaking. He began unbuttoning her shirt and she shivered with each touch of his hand.
“You okay?” Mulder asked.
“I’m scared,” Scully revealed. If it had been anybody else the confession wouldn’t have came so easily.
“Of what? I won’t hurt you.”
“Of tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow, tomorrow, I’ll love you tomorrow. It’s only a day away,” Mulder half sang with a smile. Scully half smiled and pulled him to her for another kiss.
