1.5: Halloween
Mie: He’s great with the kids, isn’t he?
Mrs. River: Wonderful, he’s a really nice young man.
Mie: And he’s been awesome with helping out and all.
Mrs. River: Yes he has.
Mie: And Michael really likes him.
Mrs. River: I agree honey, he’s a nice boy.
Mie: Nice enough that you wouldn’t mind me … seeing more of him?
Mrs. River: Define ‘seeing more’.
Mie: You know, hanging out…outside of school… for stuff that has nothing to do with school.
Mrs. River: Do you like that boy Mie?
Mie: Of course I like him, I consider him a friend.
Mrs. River: You know what I mean.
(Mie slipped away from her mother and went over to talk to Stephany.)
Stephany: How are things going?
Mie: Well, my dad’s still not sure what to make of Mick. He hasn’t tried to kill him… yet.
(girls giggle)
Stephany: What’s up with the Birthday Bash?
Mie: Even if they fall in love with Mick by the end of this party, there’s no way I’m going to be allowed to the Bash.
Stephany: That sucks.
Mie: They didn’t stop me from going to Mick’s party and they won’t stop me from going to the Bash. I’m not going to live my life in a box for them.
Stephany: My girl is becoming such a rebel. *sniff* Pretty soon I won’t recognize you.
Mie: Stop playing. Listen, we’re going to be singing ‘Happy Birthday’ pretty soon, why don’t you stick around.
Stephany: Okay.
