(Back at the River House Mie was preparing to sneak out. She planned to go to the Bash with or without permission.)
(But just as she was headed out the door, her father showed up.)
Mr. River: Mie where do you think you’re going?
Mie: To the Birthday Bash.
Mr. River: After I told you not to?
Mie: Yes.
Mr. River: Because Mick’s there? What is it with this boy?
Mie: I love him dad.
Mr. River: Love him? How can you love him. You barely know him.
Mie: I know him well enough to not judge him based on his mother or his brother. They’re not him.
