Wow this is a job, even with the powerful mostly WYSIWYG editing capabilities WordPress is giving me. I’m in the third season of sailor moon now and everyone I know who watches anime and has been happy to find out I’m finally watching Sailor Moon is all about me seeing this lesbian couple that appears in Sailor Moon “S”. Only Haruka and Michiru haven’t spun my head the way people have expected I guess. I don’t like Sailor Moon’s new wand transformation & attack for example. No one reads this livejournal anyway, so here’s a place to rant. So I finally reach the ‘visit to the future’ part of the crystal Tokyo story arc of sailor moon. In the first season it was silly enough that these girls wore no mask nor did they attempt to disguise themselves in any way yet their human identities were ‘secret’, but I suspended my disbelief and blamed it on a magical effect of some sort. So I just started watching the Sailor Moon anime. And I interrupted my regular anime Sailor Moon programing (I’ve reached the crystal tokyo story arc of season two/sailor moon R) to check out the live action series which looked super cheesy. I thought it would give me a laugh, it did. Don’t know who’s seen the live action Sailor Moon, but it’s adorable. It’s like the original Power Rangers, but with all cute girls. I still think Mars/Rei is the hottest (animated or live-action). But the girl that plays Jupiter is pretty hot too. Nice blend of softness meets tomboy… Read This

Well, I just got back from buying my books for school. And even though I’m enjoying the school experience much more this time around I truly regret I allowed myself to screw up the last time, because now by the time I get finished school my student loan payments will have doubled and now I have to go to school AND work, where as straight out of high school I was told by my mom not to work because she wanted me to completely focus on school and she would do what she needed to to make that possible for… Read This

so, recently I’ve been listening to Harry Potter audio books while I do stuff. Mostly, I’ve found I prefer reading a book to listening to it, but when you’re busy doing stuff (washing dishes, cleaning a room, washing clothes) I’ve found listening to a story more convient then watching one (when I’m not in the mood for music). Mostly because you can absorb the story while not needing to look at a screen.

There’s this new sensation sweeping the nation. The automatic bathroom. Sinks turn on just because your hands appear in front of them. Paper Towels appear with a wave. Toilets autoflush when you get up. Sounds like wonderful inovation, only it’s proably the most annoying thing ever. Sensor sinks cut on and off when they feel like it. And if they stop working, your left looking like an idiot as you wave your hands pointlessly in front of them, because how are you suppose to know the stupid sensor stopped working. Deepa Mehta is one of my favorite directors. The first film I saw of hers was (shocking I know) Fire, the lesbian love story and the first of what she calls her elemental trilogy. I accidentally found Water in the video store about a year ago and loved that. Having seen two of the three, I went in search of the last and middle movie Earth. The trilogy is completely unrelated in it’s characters, time, place and story. The uniting element seems to be social commentary. But for me, I often times find it astounding what she does with characters… Read This

If you’ve never read a Sarah Walter’s novel, I recommend reading it. “Fingersmith” was one of the most moving novels I’ve ever read. And “Tipping the Velvet” touched on coming-out better than any modern day novel has ever done. I’m speaking of them together because they are Sarah Walter’s best known works and one can very rarely hear about one without the other coming up.
