Once upon a time, in the days before the pulse, there was a little girl named Cindy. She was a showboat, a child who always had to stand out. And though she had a common name, she was lucky enough not to meet anyone else with that name. In fact, most of the girls she knew were named Iesha, Talika, Kadijah, Keisha and such. She thought her name very unique.
When Cindy was somewhere around seven or eight another child came to her school called Cindy. Cindy didn't like the thought of sharing her name, it was a part of her uniqueness she believed. And the fact that there last names were different mattered little. She wanted a name that was different.
For weeks, Cindy fretted over another child having her name. She finally decided to have ask her mother about what to do. Her mother said, "there are plenty of little girls named Cindy."
Cindy quickly answered, "But I didn't know them and neither did my friends."
"Well look at it this way," her mother replied. "They knew you first, so you were thier Original Cindy."
Cindy seemed pleased with this.
So one day, when the little playground children called out "Cindy" (speaking to the other Cindy) on the playground and then turned to our Cindy and said "Not you, the other Cindy." Cindy replied, "I know, because I'm the Orginal Cindy." And from that day on she was called "Original Cindy."
------------
note: A friend of mine happens to know 2 girls with the same name. To specify which one he was talking about at any time, he started calling the first one "Original (her name)", because he knew her first. No, he doesn't watch Dark Angel. But after he began using this system to distinguish them, I said 'What if Orginal Cindy got her name that way?' and out came this short tale.
