1.4: Secrets
(Late that evening, the older Carr kids were sitting in the living room.)
(Erika entered, hoping to see that her mom had finally come home. It was odd that so much time had passed without her arriving home, she should have left the Day Care right behind Erika and that was a few hours ago.)
Erika: Mellissa just ran upstairs. Does that mean mom’s back?
Francisco: Mom went into labor just after you left the Day Care. They went straight to the hospital, Shanice just drove up there and picked up Mark, Mellissa, and Maniya.
Erika: Why didn’t you go to the hospital? To stay with mom.
Francisco: Cause Sophia’s got it covered.
Erika: Didn’t you hear what I told you about her?
Francisco: Yeah, so what.
Erika: So what? She slept in mom’s bed once.
Deven: She fell asleep watching TV Erika.
Erika: How do I know that’s all there was to it?
Ian: Because you know Mom loves dad.
Francisco: Mom needs a friend right now, mom deserves it. Let it go.
Erika: Sophia can never be dad.
