1.4: Secrets

Sophia: If you want to use it, use it. She looks like a Michelle.

Mrs. Carr: She looks like an angel. Michelle Angel. Except we’ll re-spell he first, so it’s unique. M-E-’-C-H-E-L-L-E. Me’chelle Angela.

Sophia: What about the boy, we going to go for a theme here and go with Michael?

Mrs Carr: No, couldn’t call him Michael without thinking of Mark’s little friend. He has a noble face. Royal, Pharaoh, no King. Yeah, King … King something. I know, King Arthur, King Arthur Carr.

Sophia: That’s a little… well no offense… odd.

Mrs. Carr: I think it’s simple, yet unique.

(Sophia handed little Me’chelle back to her mother.)

Sophia: You’re serious?

Mrs. Carr: I’ve known my husband ever since we were children. One thing that stands out to me was that period he went through where he wanted to be King Arthur. It reminds me of a more innocent Francisco.

Sophia: Your husband, not your son.

Mrs. Carr: Right. I wish your daddy was here to see you King.

Sophia: Do you want me to try to call him. I mean there has to be some way.

Mrs. Carr: Don’t worry. I’ll contact him when we’re all home again. No point in disturbing him otherwise.

Sophia: Disturbing him? Dawn, these are his children. Don’t you think he’d want to know their names and that they arrived okay.

Mrs. Carr: I don’t know, but right now I don’t want to think about it or him or how messed up my life has gotten. They’re perfect and because of that, this moment, even without him, it’s perfect. And I just want to enjoy them… with you. You were the one here holding my hand through all of it.

Sophia: And I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else my friend.

(Mrs. Carr could see in Sophia’s eyes that this was genuine, that there was no where else in the world she wanted to be. There wasn’t any obligation or guilt bonding them in this moment, just an appreciation for the moment and the beginning of two new lives. Words couldn’t have described how happy she was to have Sophia by her side for all of it.)
