1.4: Secrets

(Mrs. Carr and Sophia enjoyed a quiet drive. It was a little weird to be without children around. At the Day Care, there were children around and at her house, there were children around. This was the first time they’d really been without kids around. It was nice, even though the shopping trip was baby related. Conversation came easy…)

Mrs. Carr: Thanks for this, I know you have better things to do with your weekend than take an old married lady shopping.

Sophia: You’re not all that old.




Mrs. Carr: I feel like it some days.

Sophia: You’ve got to stop exhausting yourself. It can’t be good for those babies.

Mrs. Carr: I’ve carried—

Sophia: Twins before, I know. Doesn’t keep me from worrying about you doing too much.




Mrs. Carr: I appreciate that. It’s been a long time since I had anybody worry about me.

Sophia: What about your husband?

Mrs. Carr: He’s away a lot.

Sophia: I know he’s a truck driver, but when he’s away he never calls or–

Mrs. Carr: I really don’t want to talk about it.
